In the last decade, there have been mergers of the big actuarial consulting firms so this list has shrunk considerably. I’m listing the major global actuarial consulting firms and some prominent North American ones. There are smaller actuarial consulting firms but since they usually serve only local clients it’s hard to list them here and still have them be relevant. Even an actuary providing actuarial services after retirement by himself/herself can be considered an actuarial consulting firm (eg: Mike Consulting).

Willis Towers Watson

This is one of the top actuarial consulting firms in the world. It was formed as a merger of Willis Group and Towers Watson in 2016. Towers Watson was itself the result of a merger between Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt.
Towers Watson is a full service actuarial consulting firm, and recently includes brokerage services due to the merger with Willis Group.

-executive compensation; this is where the firm recommends compensation plans for executives based on market
-software solutions; this is where they make actuarial software and license it to others

Aon Hewitt

Aon Hewitt is a full service risk solutions provider, and is also a big name in the actuarial consulting world. In addition to classical actuarial consulting services, Aon Hewitt provides risk solutions covering claims, insurance, and other risk-related areas. In terms of actuarial consulting, it has traditionally focused on the retirement and benefits sector, although recently has been expanding their property and casualty practice as well.

Milliman is one of the largest pure play actuarial consulting firms and the largest private actuarial consulting firm in the world. It is owned and managed by about 350 partners/principals. They are known for their entrepreneurial spirit, and dynamic fast acting decision making.

The Big 4 Audit firms also have large consulting practices and includes actuarial consulting. The types of actuarial consulting differs by office. For example, Deloitte P&C consulting in Toronto started relatively recently while KPMG P&C consulting in Toronto is a well developed practice.
